The Thorax Snug, Geelong Australia
Studiobird has realised an object for children to inhabit. It is not a clichéd rendering of a child’s world view, but a vessel of lurid and monstrous wonder. Filled with children it becomes an ecstatic Boschian reliquary stuck through with arms and legs. Once inside a bower of a love struck teenager is evoked. Are those orange wattles or the obscene baubles of some alpha animal? They replaced a composition comprised of Sherrin footballs, the builders having expressed their distress at the sacrifice. It is a heroic client who accepts this ovoid beast, though a proposed Mohawk of feather dusters in celebration of a local politics was thought too much. As conceived it could convey David Walsh to his coronation.
