Zap Apartments is designed as a propositional project suggesting that perhaps in the future we could build and adapt within apparently marginalized sites of redundant utility infrastructures.
Zapped imagines that in the near future the energy network will be decentralized and the electrical pylon on St Georges Road, Toorak will become a landmark relic of an archaic coal fuelled electrical past. A new residential building of four exclusive apartments is proposed for the site with the pylon becoming a historic edifice and perhaps reinvents itself as a passive ‘green’ power generator.
