PORTSEA
SEA BATHS
CIVIC ARCHITECTURE
PORTSEA, VICTORIA
AUSTRALIA

Portsea beach is no more. What was once a place for generations to gather and enjoy all that goes along with being by the sea, is now the site of sandbags and increasing erosion. Portsea Sea Baths reintroduces space for gathering and leisure while safeguarding our coastline against further erosion.

PORTSEA
SEA BATHS

CIVIC ARCHITECTURE

Pools of various kinds are met with shaded areas and other public amenities. These facilities are topped with coastal grasses and embedded into the hillside, seamlessly blending into the existing landscape.

With the maritime landscape of Port Phillip Bay irrevocably changed, the beach will never be as it was, but with Portsea Sea Baths, we can have a new civic area which will be as welcoming, communal, and fun, as what was once there.
