The Thorax Snug is a public art and design-research project: a sculptural object designed for children to inhabit and read within while at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.
It is a monstrous and lurid vessel, rather than a clichéd rendering of a child’s worldview. When filled with little visitors, it becomes an ecstatic sea of arms and legs from the outside, while the interior remains lush and protective - an experimental bower of baubles, soft surfaces, and offering an immersive and imaginative context to learn within.
